Sorry Blog…

I’ve been missing in action.  I know, I know.  I’m sorry, but we’ve been busy!  After the wedding we went to Hawaii for our honeymoon.  It was beautiful there.  We want to go back as soon as possible.

We stayed on Oahu for a week at Wyndham’s Royal Garden in Waikiki.  Our hotel ended up costing us only around $300 because my other mother (best friend’s mom) let us use her timeshare!  We just had to pay the reservation transfer fee thingy.  Our trip would have cost probably over a thousand dollars more if we had to pay it all out of pocket.  It was an amazing gift.  Our room was beautiful — we had a huge bed, nice TV, mini kitchen and dining area, nice bathroom, and a balcony.  From our balcony we had a lovely view of the canal, and even a mini ocean view!

It was beautiful.  The ocean was gorgeous — I had never seen such blue water before.  You could see the fish swimming in the water.  We don’t have that on the East Coast y’all.  It just doesn’t exist.  You can only see fish swimming if they’re in a fish tank here.  Our water is NOT the same (with that said I still love our beaches here, lol).

Anyways, we ate tons of yummy food while we were there.  We also drank lots of delicious drinks.  Mai tais were one of our favorite drinks to get.  Mmm!  Delish!  Our hotel was within walking distance to lots of shops, restaurants  and the beach so we ended up walking around a lot.  We did rent a jeep while we were there which was nice.  We ended up using the jeep to leave Waikiki and discover other sections of the island.

We swam with dolphins.  We kissed dolphins.  Yes.  WE DID IT.  WE SMOOCHED DOLPHINS.  We may have bought every picture they took of it too…and um…a DVD was purchased as well.  I have no regrets.  Swimming with dolphins was one of my favorite activities   We also swam with rays and fishies in another area of Sea Life Park.  We fed fish lettuce.  Every thing about that day was outstanding.  I love Sea Life Park.  It was situated in such a beautiful section of the island.  We had the mountains on one side and endless ocean on the other.  No matter where you looked there was beauty.  I’m pretty sure my husband thought I was a nutter that day.  I was like a big kid.  I got excited about every thing.  Even the trash cans at the park were cute (they were shaped like dolphins), and, yes, I took photos of them.

We also went to a luau and the Polynesian culture center.  We met a bunch of nice Australian couples at the luau.  They took our pictures while we danced during the luau.  We basically got pulled up onto the stage because they asked who was on their honeymoon or anniversary trip….lol…then they brought us all up on stage.  Hopefully they send us those pictures when they return home to Australia.  They were vacationing all over the place.

Anyways, we did a lot of wonderful things.  We went and saw Pearl Harbor which was one of my MUST do tours.  It was great, but sad and made me kind of emotional.  It was also HOTTER than the gates of hell that day and there wasn’t much shade available.  It was a very well done tour.  Our favorite thing we did though was just relax (well relax and swim with dolphins).

We literally would go out, eat, and then go back to the hotel and nap.  We were lazy.  Yes, we were surrounded by beauty and could have done more stuff but we were pretty darn content.  We were used to seeing each other basically on the weekends so it was amazing to have a full week together.  We loved it.  Our honeymoon lasted a week and then we came home and dived right into moving me in.

We’re still kind of moving in but we’re getting settled.  We ordered a bean bag couch which should be coming today.  We’re making our little apartment homey.  We’ve looked for Christmas trees (and spotted two potential trees).  We enjoy watching HGTV lots and lots.  We’re dreaming about the future and enjoying the present.

Missing Him

Words cannot even begin to describe how thankful I am that today is Saturday.  I have missed Brendan so much.  He’s coming over today and we’re going to meet with the officiant.  It will be good to see him — I’ve been stressing over finding a photographer.  I have a feeling this is going to go the same way the venue hunt went.  I will be stressed out beyond belief and then something better than all the other options will come along.

I wish I could be cool as a cucumber like him sometimes.  He’s more go with the flow and I’m stuck in planning mode.  Today will be nice to take my mind off that…even though we will be technically be planning.  Things are easier when we are together.

Life is Good

I haven’t posted anything on here in a little bit because I was out of town visiting friends and family in North Carolina.  I had a great time hanging out with everyone.  It was a pretty fun trip!

Some of the best things were:

  • Bouncing wedding ideas around with friends and family
  • Taking a walk with my cousin Ashley — it was nice to be able to walk around without 50 million cars passing us by.  It reminded me of when we were younger and lived in the same town.  =]
  • Food!  I ate at my beloved Sonic, tried Bojangles for the first time, and enjoyed Applebees with my Aunt and cousins.  Twas good and yummy times.
  • I met Kelsie, my cousin’s future wife, for the first time in person.  Short visit because I had to take my butt to bed so I could drive home early the next day, but it was nice.
  • Nicole’s sister Amy came and visited and we all got to hang out!  I was glad I got to see both girls =]

Overall - good trip.  My butt went numb on the way there and back but it was worth it!  Now I’m back in full wedding planning mode.  I got an email from the photographer we’re looking at and she sounds nice and very reasonable cost wise.  So I’m stoked about that!  More details to come.  I think I will post some pictures from my trip — I mainly took pictures with Nicole, lol.  We are goofballs.  Good times — hope everyone is well!

Busy Like a Bee

Today is going to be a busy day y’all!  Here’s what I’ll be up to today:

  • Meeting my fiance at his house at 10am
  • My fiance, future mother-in-law, and I are going to drive to MD for my ring appraisal & lunch with both sets of his grandparents.
  • I’m assuming we’re doing lunch before the ring appraisal which is scheduled for 2pm.  I also want to make sure my ring is fitting properly - it kinda slides around a little bit and turns to the side.  But it’s not falling off so I’m not quite sure if it needs to be adjusted.
  • As of this moment I’m not sure if there is anything else scheduled to do while we’re in MD.
  • Then, we’re going to drive back home to VA and meet up with our friends for dinner, at 6pm, at Olive Garden.  So excited for yummy food and good times with friends!  I can’t wait to show my ring off!

And, I’ll be doing all of this on very little sleep because I, once again, have managed to wake up at too early o’clock.  Yesterday I took an 1.5 hour long nap and still felt sleepy.  I can’t help it - I’m just so gosh darn excited!

Today’s Mission

  • Try on bridesmaid dress at David’s Bridal because my beautiful twin is getting married on June 17, 2012.
  • Finish buying ingredients for bite size pumpkin cheesecakes & bite size peanut butter & chocolate cheesecakes.
  • Try and finish up Thanksgiving shopping so I do not have to go back out again (cross your fingers for me).
  • Try and relax and read more of Kelley Armstrong’s The Summoning

/side note:  I am so excited that my boyfriend is going to be off from work Wednesday-Sunday.  YES!  This is going to kick major butt because last week he was on call and I didn’t really get to talk to him very much since he was so busy.  He had really weird hours and is still recovering from being sleep deprived.  Poor boo!

School is taking over my life…

I’ll be glad when I finish all of these papers for school.  This is what I’ve got to do:

Southern History Class:

  • 2 page paper due 10/26
  • 2 page paper due 11/2
  • 6-8 page paper due 11/9

Slavery & the Antebellum South Class:

  • 20 page rough draft due 11/9

Abnormal Psychology Class:

  • Respond to questions regarding the The Glass Castle (not to exceed 5 pages) due 11/8

All of the above is why I won’t be on tumblr very much.  I, at most, will be reblogging a few things when I have downtime (aka when I’m procrastinating…like now).  See y’all when I’m allowed to have a life again on 11/9.

Busy Day!

I woke up this morning and did the following:

  • Finished The Hunger Games
  • Ate some mango slices and a banana for breakfast
  • Unloaded the dishwasher
  • Loaded the dishwasher
  • Folded laundry
  • Ran around collecting more laundry to put in
  • Ran our family friend to his dentist appointment
  • Checked to see if I did my financial aid correctly last night (still not sure)

In about an hour I am taking my Grandma to her physical therapy appointment.  Today is a very busy day ya’ll.  I’m sneaking in some me time today —- going to start Catching Fire while I wait for my Grandma’s therapy appointment to end.  If the sun is still out when I get home I’m throwing myself into my swimsuit and running to the sunshine as soon as possible.  I’ve missed out on tanning two days in a row because I’ve been all over the place.  I need sunshine, but I’m not quite sure if there’s time for it yet.  Vacation?

As the semester ends…

things start getting busier.  Things I have to do this weekend:

  • Print last article for Japanese history class
  • Read the above mentioned article by Monday
  • Start working on take home final for Japanese history (due 5/6 online)

Next weekend:

  • Continue working on study guide for art history (final exam is 5/11)
  • Write Harry Potter paper (due 5/10 in class)
  • Pick up final paper topic for Religion (due 5/17 in class)
  • Study for psychology (final exam is 5/12)

I’m really glad that my Japanese history final got moved up.  I thought it was due the 16th of May and that would have been nuts.  I can work on it this weekend along with studying for art history and things should be okay.  Not stressed one bit right now.

Fudge…

Just realized I have my second psychology exam on Thursday.  This week is going to be crazy.  I have to do the following:

  • Make the note card I’m allowed to use on the test (bless my teacher)
  • Study psychology notes
  • Pick a Lord of the Rings paper topic & prepare to write it over the weekend
  • Begin reading a full length book for Japanese history for class 4/11
  • Decide what fall classes I’m taking because I sign up for classes 4/14

It works out QUITE nicely that I have only one morning class on Wednesday.  So, after I escape the hell that is art history I can study my buns off for psychology.  Good times.  Guess that means I better enjoy the rest of this weekend.  Yeah, I said it.  I’m procrastinating.  I didn’t sleep well so I’m certainly not going to work on any of the above today.  I do, however, have to read two documents for Japanese history class tomorrow.

Now time to enjoy the rest of my WEEKEND!!!
